The FIFA World Cup is an international association football competition that has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 because the Second World Cup was happening. It is the most widely viewed and followed sporting event in the world.

Seventeen countries have hosted the World Cup. Qatar is planned as host of the 2022 finals, and 2026 will be a joint hosted finals between Canada, the United States and Mexico, which will give Mexico the distinction of being the first country to have hosted games in three different finals. But in fact it isn’t so new because the 2002 World Cup was held in two different countries: South Korea and Japan.

About this year there is a technology that will be used for the first time in a World Cup: Video Assistant Referee also called VAR, it has been criticized by some teams as it has not been used properly in certain games. But according to FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, overcame the initial mistrust and today it is no longer possible to think about a Cup without the use of VAR.

By the way, Infantino listed a number of good points that made this competition the best of the 21st editions so far. And this Cup surprised us with brilliants players like the young Frenchman Mbamppé who stood out mainly for his velocity.

On Saturday (14) England will face Belgium for third place at 11am (Brasilia time) and on Sunday (15) at 12pm France and Croatia fight to be the champion.
